Introduction

WHERE TO BEGIN

From a design perspective, retail shop-fitting projects typically have the following three phases: 1. concept/moodboard, 2. contract drawings and 3. consultancy.

The concept and moodboard phase allows the customer and designer to prepare a visualisation and proof of the concept to give to shop-fitters for project cost estimation.

The contract drawings phase follows on with a set of detailed construction drawings and visualisations against which a contract can be prepared.

The concept and moodboard phase allows the customer and designer to prepare a visualisation and proof of the concept to give to shop-fitters for project cost estimation. In summary, we prepare 1:100 plan and elevation drawings of both your existing and proposed design. We create a standard 3D CAD model with a walkthrough to help visualise human scale and scope. We also prepare a moodboard draft phase, which outlines in a digital format the colours, textures and style of fixtures.

Together with a List of Works, these visualisations  provide your preferred shopfitters with information for an initial estimated cost.
We suggest you speak to at least three qualified shopfitters. We have an established working relationship with national and local builders. Your input and the contractors expert feedback can help manage expectations and eliminate anything that is unfeasible.

CONTRACT DRAWINGS phase

By preparing accurate 3D rendered versions, with simulated lighting and textures, you can visualise high profile or costly parts of the project before incurring the expense of production.

The contract drawings phase follows on with a set of more detailed construction drawings and visualisations that are aligned with all the information we now have to hand.

For example, a moodboard final phase will be prepared to guide purchasing decisions. By preparing accurate 3D rendered versions, with simulated lighting and textures, you can visualise high profile or costly parts of the project before incurring the expense of production. Contract drawings will be prepared at 1:20 scale (these are technical drawings detailing measurements from 20mm upwards) as well as 1:50 scale plan and elevation drawings for plumbing, sockets, lighting etc.

Once the contract drawings stage is complete, professional shopfitters  can provide a definitive quotation matched against these clearly defined deliverables.

CONSULTANCY PHASE

Whilst the project will always benefit from the designer’s input throughout, smaller projects can be subject to tight deadlines and budget constraints.

If a more detailed Schedule of Works (this is a list of custom specified items showing details such as quantity, price and lead-time) is required, we can do this on a consultancy time and materials basis. Additional research, liaising with contractors and design requirements will be charged on a consultancy time and materials basis also.

Whilst the project will always benefit from the designer’s input throughout, smaller projects can be subject to tight deadlines and budget constraints. We understand that and will provide flexible consultancy throughout the production time-line to accommodate both you and your contractor’s needs. Again, this work would be charged on a consultancy time and material basis.

FEES

Concept and moodboard fees range from £3k – £8k.
Contract drawings range from £3.5k – £8k

Consultancy could be limited to a few days depending on the need.
